With a tip of our hat to the most played rivalry in NCAA Division I Football – The Axe between the University of Minnesota and the University of Wisconsin – the Gopher to Badger Half Marathon is excited to announce the establishment of its own rivalry competition: “The Battle for the Hatchet”!
At registration, each participant will be asked to declare their loyalty to Minnesota or Wisconsin (or you can opt to stay neutral).
At race-end, the top five times for runners who have declared their loyalty to that state – male and female at each distance for the Half Marathon, 10K and 5K – will be combined to declare a team time. The state with the lowest combined time will be declared the winner at the race and announced at the finish line.
